Job Description
As a DevOps Team Lead / DevOps Manager at Insightful, you will blend your technical expertise in cloud environments and CI/CD processes with your leadership skills to optimize our DevOps practices. You will manage a team of DevOps engineers, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our cloud infrastructure, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture, and driving continuous improvement in our deployment and monitoring processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers through regular one-on-ones, coaching, and constructive feedback
- Oversee and evolve our cloud (GCP) and on-premise environments, including CI/CD pipelines and release automation
- Ensure high availability and reliability of production systems, implementing robust monitoring, alerting, and observability practices
- Own the on-call strategy and incident management framework, ensuring reliable 24/7 production support and leading incident response during critical events
- Own cloud cost efficiency by driving optimization initiatives and promoting cost-aware engineering practices across the team
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on support in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues across infrastructure, automation, and CI/CD
- Drive a culture of operational excellence by reducing alert fatigue, improving signal-to-noise ratio, and promoting proactive issue resolution
- Collaborate closely with development teams to improve deployment processes and overall delivery efficiency
- Participate in hiring, including conducting technical interviews and helping shape the team
- Design and maintain effective onboarding processes to ensure smooth integration of new team members
- Set and manage individual goals aligned with team and organizational strategy
- Foster a psychologically safe and focused environment by shielding the team from unnecessary interruptions and external noise
- Report on team performance, delivery, and development needs to the Director of Engineering
You are a great fit for this role if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps or a related role, with strong expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, demonstrating strong communication and people development skills
- Experience with GCP infrastructure, or alternatively AWS/Azure.
- Proven knowledge of CI/CD tooling and processes
- Proven experience managing production environments with high availability and reliability requirements
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to mentor and guide team members in technical matters
Bonus:
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar
- Familiarity with managed services like MongoDB Atlas and Elastic Cloud
- Strong hands-on background, with a willingness to remain actively involved in technical work
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
